Background
This project began with a simple goal: to give our athletes an opportunity to compete and grow beyond what is available locally. The International Children's Games (ICG) provides a unique platform for young athletes aged 12–15 to represent their city on an international stage, and we saw an opportunity to bring that experience back to Chatham.
Through the collaboration of local coaches, families, and community supporters, this initiative came together to send athletes from both the Chatham Pool Sharks Swim Team and the Chatham Wildcats Basketball Team to compete in the 2026 Games in Hualien, Taiwan. What started as an idea has grown into a shared effort across two programs, working together under one identity: Team Chatham Canada.
Our goal is not only to compete, but to provide an experience that helps our athletes grow as individuals. This includes learning independence, building confidence, experiencing new cultures, and understanding what it means to represent something bigger than themselves. At the same time, we aim to strengthen our community by bringing people together in support of these athletes on the international stage.
CELEBRITY SERVERS A HUGE SUCCESS!
The Chatham Pool Sharks Celebrity Servers Night at Boston Pizza was a tremendous success, bringing together athletes, families, coaches, and community members for an evening filled with smiles, laughter, and incredible support.
Our swimmers did an amazing job stepping into the role of servers for the night, showcasing the same enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication that they bring to the pool every day. The overwhelming support from the community helped make the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Boston Pizza for opening their doors and partnering with our athletes. Their generosity, hospitality, and commitment to supporting local youth sports played a huge role in the success of the evening.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came out to support our swimmers. Events like this remind us how fortunate we are to be part of a community that rallies behind its young athletes and helps them achieve their goals both in and out of the pool.

The Chatham International Children's Games Team was recently recognized by Chatham-Kent Council as the athletes prepare to represent our community on the international stage this summer. Council's recognition highlights the dedication, hard work, and commitment these young athletes have shown in earning the opportunity to compete against some of the world's best youth competitors.
The team is incredibly grateful for the support being provided by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, local businesses, organizations, and community members. This encouragement helps make the experience possible for our athletes and demonstrates the pride our community takes in supporting youth sport. As Team Chatham prepares for Taiwan, the athletes are proud to represent Chatham-Kent and carry the support of their community with them every step of the way.
