Background
This project began with a simple goal: to give our athletes an opportunity to compete, grow, and experience sport beyond what is available locally. The International Children’s Games (ICG) provides a unique platform for young athletes aged 12–15 to represent their city on an international stage, and we saw an opportunity to bring that experience back to Chatham.
While this initiative includes athletes from both the Chatham Pool Sharks Swim Team and the Chatham Wildcats Basketball Team, the basketball side is especially focused on showcasing a strong group of girls from the Chatham-Kent Wildcats U14 basketball team. These athletes represent the continued growth of girls’ basketball in our community and the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for young female athletes to compete, lead, and believe in their place in sport.
What started as an idea has grown into a shared effort between coaches, families, and community supporters, all working together under one identity: Team Chatham Canada. Our goal is not only to compete, but to provide an experience that builds confidence, independence, cultural understanding, and pride in representing something bigger than themselves. At the same time, we aim to bring our community together on the international stage.

As we wrap up an unforgettable journey here in Canada, we wanted to capture one final photo with our athletes, their families, and friends before representing Chatham, Canada at the International Children's Games in Hualien, Taiwan.
A special thank you to the Chatham-Kent Wildcats Basketball Club for helping develop these incredible young athletes and providing them with the opportunity to grow both on and off the court. Your commitment to youth basketball has played a huge role in this achievement.
We also want to thank the Chatham-Kent community for your incredible encouragement, generosity, and support throughout this journey. Every message, donation, sponsorship, and kind word has meant so much to our team.

In the lead up to the International Children's Games in Hualien, Taiwan, Team Chatham's Girls 3x3 Basketball Team is building momentum at just the right time!
This weekend, the girls battled their way to a medal at the 519 United 3x3 Tournament, showcasing the teamwork, determination, and resilience that have become the foundation of this group. Every game was another opportunity to compete, learn, and grow as they prepare to represent Chatham, Ontario, and Canada on the international stage.
Congratulations to Kate Regan, Zuri Willder, Callie McMullin, and Kiki White on a fantastic tournament. Your hard work continues to pay off, and our community is incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished.
Next stop: Hualien, Taiwan.

Community Rallies Behind Team Chatham 3x3 at Sons of Kent Trivia Night
What an incredible evening of community support at the Team Chatham 3x3 Trivia Night held at Sons of Kent Brewing Co.
The event brought together friends, family, local businesses, and community members to celebrate and support a remarkable group of young athletes as they continue their journey toward representing Chatham and Canada at the International Children's Games in Hualien, Taiwan.
The atmosphere was electric as teams tested their knowledge, shared plenty of laughs, and helped raise valuable funds to support the athletes' travel and competition expenses. It was a powerful reminder of what makes Chatham-Kent special: a community that shows up to support its young people as they pursue their dreams.
A special thank you goes out to Sons of Kent Brewing Co. for hosting the event and providing such a fantastic venue. We would also like to recognize Councillor Brock McGregor for contributing trivia questions and helping make the evening a success.
A huge thank you as well to radio personality Chris McLeod, who served as our Master of Ceremonies and Trivia Host for the night. His energy, enthusiasm, and humour kept the crowd engaged from start to finish.
Congratulations to our trivia champions, The Royals, who claimed the title after a competitive and entertaining evening of trivia.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored, and cheered on our athletes. Your support means the world to these young competitors and their families.
It was truly a night to remember and another example of how this community continues to rally behind its young athletes. Team Chatham 3x3 is incredibly grateful for your support as we prepare to take the world stage in Taiwan.

The Chatham International Children's Games 3x3 Basketball Team traded jerseys for serving trays and were blown away by the support from family, friends, local businesses, and community members who stopped by to cheer them on.
Every table served, every smile shared, and every donation received helps these athletes continue their journey toward representing Canada in Hualien, Taiwan this summer.
The girls worked hard, had a blast meeting everyone, and were reminded just how special the Chatham-Kent community truly is.
A huge thank you to the staff and management at Boston Pizza for opening your doors and creating such a fun and welcoming atmosphere. We are incredibly grateful for your support.
The road to Taiwan continues, and thanks to nights like this, these athletes know they have an entire community behind them.

The Chatham International Children's Games Team was recently recognized by Chatham-Kent Council as the athletes prepare to represent our community on the international stage this summer. Council's recognition highlights the dedication, hard work, and commitment these young athletes have shown in earning the opportunity to compete against some of the world's best youth competitors.
The team is incredibly grateful for the support being provided by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, local businesses, organizations, and community members. This encouragement helps make the experience possible for our athletes and demonstrates the pride our community takes in supporting youth sport. As Team Chatham prepares for Taiwan, the athletes are proud to represent Chatham-Kent and carry the support of their community with them every step of the way.
ICG TEAM MEMBERS MAKING STRIDES AT OBA'S
BRONZE MEDALISTS!
What an incredible weekend for our U14 Girls! These girls left their hearts on the court and came home with some well-deserved hardware. It was a true rollercoaster of grit and determination. And here is how it unfolded: On Friday, the girls kicked things off strong with a massive win against Pelham, in a down to the last seconds 37-35 win.
On Saturday morning, the team battled hard against Mississauga, but couldn’t hold them. Which resulting in a 52-42 loss. The girls found themselves in a "must-win" situation heading into game 3 in a nail-biter against Kingston. Our Wildcats pushed it to OVERTIME and clinched the win 45-43, to punch their ticket to the medal rounds.
On Sunday, the Wildcats sealed the deal with a dominant performance against the Barrie Royals to officially secure the BRONZE in a 44-35 victory!
The Future is bright for these Wildcats as they look to keep that momentum overseas at the International Children's Games
